Wallet Size Photo Dimensions (and How to Print Your Own)
A wallet size photo is 2.5 x 3.5 inches at most labs, or 2 x 3 at Walgreens and school picture day. Here's how to print four on one cheap 4x6 or 5x7 sheet.

Grandma wants this year's school photo for her wallet. Grandpa wants one too, and so does your aunt. You have the photo on your phone. So what size is "wallet size," and how do you get a few copies without paying for a whole package?
The short answer

2.5 × 3.5 in (6.4 × 8.9 cm)
Most photo labs. Needs about 750 × 1,050 pixels.

2 × 3 in (5.1 × 7.6 cm)
Walgreens, Snapfish, school picture day. Needs about 600 × 900 pixels.
Any photo from a recent phone has far more pixels than that. And you don't need to order "wallets" at all: four of them fit on one ordinary print, which you can make below.
Two sizes, and only one fits a card slot
There's no official wallet size, so labs split. Mpix, Shutterfly and Nations Photo Lab print 2.5 × 3.5. Walgreens and Snapfish print 2 × 3, and so does Lifetouch on its school picture-day forms.
The difference matters once the photo meets an actual wallet:
So pick by where it'll live. Tucked into a card slot behind a credit card? Go 2 × 3. Joining a set of school wallets you already have? Measure one and match it.
Four wallets fit on one regular print
A sheet of wallets is just a normal photo print with four pictures on it. Four 2 × 3 wallets fill a 4 × 6 exactly. Four 2.5 × 3.5 wallets fill a 5 × 7.
4 × 6 printFour 2 × 3 wallets
5 × 7 printFour 2.5 × 3.5 wallets
That's where the savings are, because a 4 × 6 is the cheap everyday print. At Walgreens a 4 × 6 costs 33 cents, and its set of four wallets costs 99 cents (Walgreens photo prices, October 2026). Same four wallets, a third of the price.
The bigger 2.5 × 3.5 wallets only fit two to a 4 × 6, so they go on a 5 × 7. Printing at home? A sheet of letter paper holds nine.
Make a print-ready sheet from your photo
Choose your photo, pick the wallet size and the sheet, and slide the crop until the face sits nicely. You get a file with thin gray cut lines, ready to order or print. Your photo never leaves your device.
It also tells you if the photo is too small. Old phone pictures and thumbnails saved from social media are the usual suspects.
Make a printable sheet of wallet photos
Your photo stays on your device: the sheet is made in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
Or drop it here. JPEG, PNG or WebP; HEIC in Safari.
Print and cut in three steps
Keep heads away from the outer edge
Labs often enlarge a print a touch so no white edge shows, which trims about a millimeter off the outside. If a head sits close to the edge, nudge the crop slider.
Order it as one print, or print at home
Upload the JPEG as a single 4 × 6 or 5 × 7 and turn off any “add border” option. At home, print the letter PDF on photo paper with the scale set to Actual size or 100%.
Cut along the gray lines
A paper trimmer is easiest; a ruler and a craft knife work too. The thin line disappears with the cut.
Starting from an old print or a tiny file?
Copies of an older photo usually start as a scan or a phone snapshot of the print. If you can, scan it at 600 dpi: that gives you plenty of detail to crop.
If the sheet maker says your photo will look soft, our free image upscaler doubles its width and height (two a day without an account, files up to 2 MB). Scratched or faded? The photo restorer cleans it up. You can try it free; downloading the restored photo needs a paid plan. Our guide to restoring old photos walks through the whole process.

Quick questions
What are the dimensions of a wallet size photo?
2.5 × 3.5 inches (6.4 × 8.9 cm) at most photo labs, including Mpix, Shutterfly and Nations Photo Lab. Walgreens, Snapfish and Lifetouch's school picture-day forms use a smaller 2 × 3 inches (5.1 × 7.6 cm).
How many pixels is a wallet size picture?
For a crisp print, 750 × 1,050 pixels for a 2.5 × 3.5 wallet and 600 × 900 for a 2 × 3. That's 300 pixels per inch. About two-thirds of that still looks fine at arm's length.
How many wallet photos fit on a 4×6?
Four 2 × 3 wallets fill a 4 × 6 exactly. Only two 2.5 × 3.5 wallets fit, so that size goes four to a 5 × 7, or nine to a sheet of letter paper at home.
